Buku specialties

We are really proud of what Buku Haematology achieved, and really enjoyed hearing about how it helped clinicians. With your feedback, we saw the potential for benefit in other specialty areas, and have subsequently changed our name to Buku Medicine to reflect our expanding remit.

We hope our new additions will help to improve patient care further, and ease the workload for clinicians.

All specialties work under a governance framework. There are 2-3 authors at registrar level and a consultant to review and check content. See below for information about some of our team members (more information about all of our contributors coming soon).


Renal

Sarah Gleeson

Sarah is a renal clinical research fellow in Imperial College Healthcare NHS trust. She has trained in Ireland, New Zealand and the UK. Her interests include glomerulonephritis, Pregnancy and kidney disease, home therapies and social media in medicine. Find her on twitter @Sarah_Gleeson_

Jamie Willows

Endocrinology

Kerri Devine

Kerri is a Diabetes & Endocrinology consultant originally from Glasgow but now training in the North-East of England. She is interested in steroid physiology, improving the patient experience and making endocrinology more accessible. She is one of the management team of Buku Medicine. STEVE MASSON

Steve Masson is a Liver Consultant in Newcastle. He edits and reviews content for Buku Hepatology. His interests include liver transplantation, alcohol-related liver disease and genetic haemochromatosis. Find him on twitter @DrStevenMasson

 

Immunology

Manisha Ahuja

Manisha is an immunology and allergy registrar in the North East of England.  She also chairs the UK Trainee Research Network for Immunology. She is interested in primary immunodeficiencies and immune dysregulation.

 

Robert Yellon

Robert is an allergy and immunology trainee in Cambridge. He has research interests in autoimmune and cardiovascular disease. He also has a keen interest in medical leadership, and chairs regular meetings of the National Immunology and Allergy Trainee Representatives Forum.


Haematology

Keir pickard

Keir is a haematology registrar in the North East with a keen interest in medical education. He has Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education from Newcastle University. He is passionate about delivering free access to online haematology resources and education to support and empower clinical colleagues.

 

Tom Bull

Tom Bull is a haematology consultant working in the East of England as a generalist treating malignant and non-malignant conditions. He illustrated the pictorial content for the Buku Plus haematological conditions.

He is the creator of Haembase, a free open access medical education (FOAMed) resource aimed at haematologists in training. He is a trustee of the HaemSTAR network.

 

Tom Fail

Tom is a haematology registrar in the North East. He is involved in reviewing the haematology content on Buku haematology and has a keen interest in improving collaboration between clinical specialities.

 

Neurology

Naomi Warren

Naomi is a consultant neurologist in Newcastle upon Tyne.  She has a special interest in Parkinson's disease and movement disorders and does out reach neurology at Northumbria hospitals.  She organises, edits and reviews the content for Buku neurology.  Find her on twitter @drnaomiwarren

 

Daniyal Daud

Daniyal is a consultant neurologist, having trained and worked in the North East of England. My clinical interests are in acute neurology and cerebrovascular disease. I also participate in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education with the aim of improving the understanding of neuroscience among healthcare professionals.

 

David Ledingham

David Ledingham is a consultant neurolgist in the North East of England. He edits and reviews content for Buku Neurology. His interests include movement disorders, botulinum toxin injections for neurological disorders, deep brain stimulation and medical education.
